本殿は春日造。春日造の形式は、中世に奈良興福寺の領地であった場合が多い。 本殿は正面に軒唐破風（のきからはふ）をつけ、各所に蟇股（かえるまた）や虹梁（こうりょう）絵様を配して配色するなど装飾が多く、その細部様式からすると、江戸時代中期の建立と思われ、京都府の登録文化財に指定されている。また、境内には江戸時代初期に建てられたと思われる末社若宮八幡宮がある。 境内裏手にある奥深い林は、山城国一揆の舞台となった草路城跡で、土塁や堀も残っている。府の「文化財環境保全地区」に指定されている。

"It has many decorations on the roof and the some other parts, and was probably built during the mid-Edo period concerning its design in details. Going deep into the woods at the back of the shrine, there are the Ruins of Kusaji Castle, the battlefield of Yamashironokuni-Ikki (Yamashiro State Riot), and there still remains the Dorui (earthwork fortification) and Hori (the moats)."
